Township of Langley’s 2026 budget sets a 3.97% tax increase, but not every planned hire is proved by the public record

The Township of Langley says council approved a 2026 budget backed by a 3.97% property-tax increase, mainly tied to policing, fire and bylaw services. The public page clearly sets the tax direction, but it does not by itself prove that several listed 2026 hires had already started by Oct. 14.

Fraser Valley election rules are not uniform: Township of Langley bars mail ballots while Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Langley City list them

Neighbouring Fraser Valley municipalities are using different voting procedures for the Oct. 17, 2026 local elections. Official pages show no regional standard on mail ballots, and some records also contain stale or incomplete wording that readers need to notice before relying on a deadline.

World Bank’s Oct. 6 update points to a sharper 2026 hit for Gulf oil exporters than its June outlook

A new World Bank regional update projects the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan will shrink in 2026, with Gulf oil exporters facing the deepest losses. The records support a narrower conclusion than many conflict-economy headlines: the key shock is disrupted trade and energy flows, not a uniform regional downturn.
